Remote interview

Before your interview:

  • Complete NDA if required

If required, review and complete the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) your recruiting contact has sent to you.

  • Confirm which meeting platform you’ll use

Your recruiter will let you know whether your interview will take place on Zoom or Amazon Chime.

  • Download the correct meeting app if needed

Use the link for your assigned platform. If you’ll be sharing your screen during your interview, download the desktop version of the platform.

  • Test your setup

It’s a good idea to practice using your assigned platform and test your audio and video in advance.

  • Check your meeting details

Your recruiting contact will send your interview link and instructions by email.

  • Request accommodations if needed

If a remote interview on Zoom or Amazon Chime isn’t fully accessible for you, please discuss this with your recruiting contact so they can offer an accommodation.

The day of your interview:

  • Conduct your interview in a well-lit and quiet environment that’s free of distractions.

  • Test your internet connection to ensure it’s working and strong.

  • Confirm your webcam is working. If you don’t have a headset, be prepared to mute your microphone when you aren’t talking.

  • If you’re using a laptop, phone, or tablet, fully charge your device before your interview.

Troubleshooting:

  • If you experience technical difficulties, close and re-enter the meeting.

  • If you still have trouble connecting, dial in using the toll-free number included in your interview invitation.

  • Email your recruiting contact immediately if you’re unable to connect via phone.

Additional tips:

If your interview involves technical elements (e.g., coding, design exercise), it may be easier to draw your solution and show it to the interviewer. You can:

  • Use a drawing or diagramming tool on your personal computer, and share that window via your assigned meeting platform.
  • Use a free web-based whiteboarding product, such as the Miro app, and share the web browser’s screen via your assigned meeting platform.
  • Draw on a piece of paper, and show it to the camera when ready.
