Located on the banks of the Danube and Morava Rivers, Bratislava is the only national capital that borders two independent countries (Austria and Hungary). As well as being its capital, Bratislava is also the cultural and economic center of Slovakia.
Bratislava’s Old Town contains many medieval and baroque buildings, including the Town Hall which now hosts the City Museum. Cathedrals, castles, and cemetaries share space with parks and lakes within the city proper.
The city holds several annual music festivals, and there are resident opera, ballet, and theater groups who share the refurbished Slovak National Theatre buildings.
