About Cork

Diverse and Bustling

Cork is the second largest city in the Republic of Ireland. Standing on the banks of the River Lee, it's home to around 123,000 people as well as a further 25,000 students who attend the city's university. The city is vibrant, dynamic and has been hugely successful in attracting major companies from many sectors to set up operations here.

That well-balanced business economy is complemented by a rich social and cultural life. The city is home to several galleries, museums, the National Sculpture Factory, dance theatres and artists' workshops. Cork also boasts a year-long calendar of festivals ranging from folk and jazz to choral and film.

The ease with which Cork mixes the commercial and the cultural, together with its abundance of sports and recreational facilities, its parks and outdoor spaces, ultra-modern transport infrastructure and its strategic location, have turned it into an energetic European regional capital.
