Associate Corporate Counsel - AWS Public Sector

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented junior lawyer to support Amazon Web Services (AWS), a dynamic and rapidly growing business within AWS is at the forefront of the cloud computing and service industry providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, browsers and more.

This Associate Corporate Counsel will be based in Gurgaon and will primarily support AWS’ Public Sector Business Development & Marketing teams in India and around the Asia-Pacific region. They will negotiate strategic enterprise and technology licensing agreements with a focus on Indian public sector customers, assist with marketing initiatives, support compliance training and awareness, handle pre-litigation disputes and inquiries, assist with responses to bid proposals/tenders, and work proactively with regulators and policy makers. Typical transactions will range from standard contracts to complex, high-dollar-value strategic alliance agreements.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, have strong written and oral communication skills, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. Compensation will be based on experience and includes equity compensation.

This position will be based in Gurgaon. Travel, including international travel, will be required.


· Law degree (J.D. or equivalent) from a leading university and/or law school
· Licensed to practice law in India, or the U.S. or other common law jurisdiction
· Minimum 2 years of post-qualification legal experience
· Strong transactional background


· In-house experience at a technology company or in a private practice technology group
· Knowledge of Indian public procurement laws and tender policies and procedures
· Transactional experience involving public sector customers (including government, state owned enterprises, NGOs and educational institutions)
