As a Global Interconnect Communications Manager, you will join the Internet Technical Business Development organization responsible for managing Internet Interconnection for Amazon Web Services.

The Internet Technical Business Development team is looking for a highly motivated Technical Business Developer to help build and scale one of the world’s largest and complex networks. As a Technical Business Developer for AWS’s Interconnect team, you will play an important role in planning and sourcing IP interconnect solutions in close coordination with other team members. You will respond to peering requests, coordinate peering and transit connections with both external parties and internal teams (including provisioning), assist in establishing peering with partner networks at new Internet exchanges globally, and work closely with network operations teams to ensure that peering and transit connections are upgraded in a timely and effective manner.

Our Technical Business Developers responsible for sourcing and planning have strong ownership of our network acquisition and implementation strategy and the maintenance of relationships with strategic suppliers to expand and grow Amazon's AWS footprint worldwide. You will work closely with this agile team to support the day-to-day lifecycle required for the optimal solutions to Amazon's ongoing needs for network capacity. By applying a unique blend of business and technology experience, the team will work closely with both outside parties and internal teams to find creative, cost effective, and often unusual solutions to meet Amazon's ongoing growth and expansion needs worldwide.

o Develop mutually favorable relationships with counterparts at vendors and collaborate to improve delivery processes and operational interconnect lifecycle challenges. Act as an externally facing point of contact to coordinate service and operational support from peers and vendors for the interconnect team.
o Apply statistical process control to continuously improve the team’s performance against speed, on time and quality SLA. Contribute to raising the bar and overall improvement of the documentation and records’ accurateness for physical network assets and commercial data information.
o Provide thorough and timely status throughout the entire lifecycle in the order tracking system; including communicating vendor provisioning/install lead times.
o Provide feedback and engage with the correct IPBD partners for matters escalated from the Network Operations team.
o Update and maintain peering database ( in addition to other tools which store site information and inventory including vendor contact and escalation details.
o Develop effective communication and teamwork with internal customers, operational teams and vendors.
o Support planned systems maintenance activity while minimizing impact to services.


o BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience in network engineering/ communications.
o At least three (3) years of experience in telecom field, experience with layer 1 through layer 3 network services and technologies, including internet routing protocols such as BGP.
o Strong understanding of the internet ecosystem and the post deployment communication and operational requirements between networks.
o Experience with inter-connectivity requirements within carrier hotels including unique patch panel types and/or configurations, fiber cabling infrastructure, connector types, optical distribution frames and splice trays.
o Demonstrated ability to formulate data driven decisions that lead to results.
o Role requires relocation to Seattle, WA area.
o Willing to travel.


o PMP or the commitment to get relevant Amazon provided training within a year.
o Experience with written communications in a networking / telecommunication environment.
o Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role.
o Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.
