Regional Manager, Transportation Fleet Maintenance

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated leader to manage the maintenance activities of Amazon’s growing transportation fleet. The Fleet Maintenance Regional Manager is a new role that will be focus on maximizing the value and utilization of transporation assets over their lifecycle.

Responsibilities in the corresponding region will include maintenance planning, vendor oversight, cost control and maximizing equipment uptime. An ideal candidate brings a background in managing maintenance cost and equipment ownership, with experience establishing professional relationships with vendors and operation management teams, driving improvement, holding vendors accountable for quality and cost, and achieving organizational targets. This job will require exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently.

Role Description
Fleet Maintenance Managers are part of the ATS Fleet team and will report to a Fleet Sr. Manager. Managers will operate within a multi-state region. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. He or she will bring analytic skills and use data to drive decisions, effectively communicating insights to others in the organization.

Key Responsibilities
· Conduct onsite field training on proper inspections procedures, systems and documentation
· Develop and implement maintenance standard work and process cadence in the region
· Research external tools and best practices that can be utilized to drive efficiencies and improve departmental metrics
· Develop and document maintenance KPI and vendor score-carding
· Drive out waste in time, costs and redundancy in maintenance work
· Ensure all vendor work is being performed per AMZN expectations and SLAs
· Direct oversight of 3rd party vendor accountability across the AMZN network
· Implement checks and balances that ensure vendor staffing, response time and follow up remain at optimal levels
· Communicate with all levels of management both internally and externally to ensure maintenance standard work exceeds AMZN safety and operational standards
· Drive continuous improvements that are repetitive, flexible and scalable as fleet continues to grow in assets and personnel
· Assist Fleet senior management as needed with project management and vendor and systems vetting
· Travel as needed to vendor corporate sites, 3rd party offsite shops, lots and AMZN sites as POC for escalations and timely problem resolution
· Manage damage repair budget and continue to improve processes such as PNC’s, claims and carrier accountability, which lead to recovery of incurred repair costs
· Work with Transportation Execution team members to develop process that embodies communication, documentation and enforcement of problem carriers that negatively impact AMZN asset health and availability
· Embody all AMZN leadership principles and make decisions that are ethical, cost effective and always in the best interest of Fleet and Amazon as a whole
· Construct a regional fleet team whose tactical mission is centered on AMZN asset health and turnover, and whose strategic vision focuses on maximizing inspection touch points

· Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, transportation, supply chain or related field
· 5+ years' vendor management experience
· 5+ years' program management experience
· Experience with data mining and data analysis
· Familiarity with the different types of transportation equipment
· General uunderstanding of transportation operations
· Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
· Able to travel within the United States and Canada – up to 25%


· 3+ years' experience managing a fleet maintenance program
· Transportation equipment maintenance certifications
· DOT compliance experience
· MBA/MS and work experience in dedicated project management highly desired
· Practical application of program management methodology including PMP/Lean Six Sigma/Kaizen
· Advanced knowledge of analytical tools such as SQL, Tableau, MS Excel, or Microsoft Access
· Demonstrated ability working in an ambiguous environment
· Experience handling changing priorities and using good judgment when working in stressful situations
· Demonstrable problem-solving, mathematic, and analytical skills using data to drive decisions in a business environment
· Demonstrated experience and proficiency in effective communication of goals and strategies across multiple leadership levels of an organization
· Proven ability to influence internal/external stakeholders without authority to adopt new processes/initiatives
· Executive level written and oral communication skills
· High attention to detail including proven ability to manage multiple competing projects and priorities simultaneously
· Demonstrated success in thinking strategically and executing methodically
· Analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases
· Demonstrated experience communicating data insights to others, including use of data visualization tools
· Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding the product, our business and the competitive landscape
