We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist who is curious, self-driven, and passionate about building solutions for millions of customers using the latest hardware and Machine Learning techniques. As a successful data scientist, you are an analytical problem solver who enjoys diving into data, is excited about investigations and algorithms, can multi-task, and can credibly interface between technical teams and business stakeholders. As a member of our team, you will work closely with engineers and other scientists to develop and run probabilistic models for various parts of Amazon’s business. You will collaborate directly with internal customers, economists, and scientists to develop modeling solutions. You will partner with software developers and data engineers to build end-to-end data pipelines and production code and have exposure to leadership as we communicate results and provide scientific guidance. You will analyze large amounts of business data, automate and scale the analysis, and develop metrics that will enable us to provide high quality models for our customers worldwide.

The Core AI organization develops research-intense solutions leveraging state-of-the-art ML techniques and drives their adoption across Amazon by partnering with Amazon teams on science-heavy problems and incubating products with high research risk. Our Berlin team is embedded into an active Data Science and ML community with a local presence and representation from various organizations.

Responsibilities Include:
· Understand business problems and the available data to enable the development of solutions for data-driven decision making
· Develop innovative solutions by adapting new modeling techniques and procedures
· Write code (Python, Scala, etc.) to analyze data and build statistical models to solve specific business problems
· Collaborate with researchers, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements and provide analytical support
· Communicate verbally and in writing to business customers and leadership teams with various levels of technical knowledge, educating them about our systems, as well as sharing insights and recommendations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· MS in a quantitative field, such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
· Multiple years of relevant work experience in BI, Analytics, or Data Science or comparable fields
· Proven SQL and Python (or similar) skills in transformation, optimization, and analysis of massive structured and unstructured data sets
· Track record of developing and applying statistical/ML models to business problems
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including data visualization, especially in regards to quantitative topics discussed with non-technical colleagues
· Ability to influence multiple stakeholders to align roadmap, priorities, and drive change
· Strong organizational and multitasking skills with ability to balance competing priorities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


· PhD in a quantitative field, such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
· Familiarity with DDL and AWS services, such as S3 and Redshift
· Experience working on and delivering end-to-end projects independently
· Experience with causal inference and/or predictive modeling
