As AWS enjoys its ongoing rapid expansion, we are making investments in the Infrastructure Supply Chain and Procurement (ISCaP) team to optimize the value chain of technology ecosystem suppliers from whom we acquire good and services to run our cloud solutions. The AWS ISCAP team is responsible for the end-to-end sourcing and supply fulfillment to deploy customer capacity to AWS’s Data Center network. We are seeking a senior category sourcing manager responsible for the acquisition of custom mechanical / thermal components used in the construction of rack mounted servers and networking equipment. The category is comprised of shaped and formed structural metal hardware including rack enclosure cabinets, rack mount chassis, adapters, heat-sinks, and fans. Our global category sourcing managers are subject matter experts in their respective fields who deliver high supply continuity at best possible cost and commercial terms. They are responsible for formulating procurement strategies and execute operational plans to achieve lowest total cost of ownership fueling rapid AWS growth that meets customer demand. The mechanical/thermal sourcing manager will analyze market dynamics/trends among players, process technologies, and industry/supplier capacity utilization to drive value-optimized procurement policies that capture time sensitive opportunities and ensure supply satisfies infrastructure demand. The sourcing manager will source, select, on-board, contract and performance manage category vendors. They will negotiate AWS favorable business terms and conditions, negotiate pricing to deliver spend saving and identify/mitigate supplier risks. The GCM will take lead in driving manufacturing readiness of new product tooling, secure 2nd sourcing and achieve qualification to scale production volume.

The successful candidate will be a seasoned mechanical/thermal component sourcing professional with demonstrated record of success, who possesses influential C-level vendor relationships among leading industry vendors. You will engage early and often with Design Engineering, in-stock supply planners, quality, product life cycle manager to deliver quality, availability and cost goals while influencing design of manufacturing/cost. As a senior sourcing manager, being nimble, responsive and decisive in pursuit of business priorities is imperative. The ideal candidate needs to have strong and proven communication, leadership, and influencing skills. Successful leaders at Amazon are hands-on, results oriented, collaborative, and able to deliver innovative solutions with little to no supervision and guidance. Excellent verbal and written and communication skills will be critical to the success of this position. Success in the role will be measured by how the mechanical component sourcing manager is able to deliver cost effective sourcing solutions, close AWS beneficial business agreements, measure/improve supplier performance, and deliver multi-sourced component qualifications on-time for production launches. This role will report directly into ISCaP’s head of Component Sourcing and is located in Taipei. There will be travel required in this role including both domestic and international trips.

Responsibilities Include:
· Recognized subject matter expert in mechanical component technologies, design practices, specialty materials, fabrication methods, should cost dynamics and quality assurance systems.
· Established senior level mechanical component industry network.
· Drive mechanical component supplier product technology roadmaps and execute strategic quality/availability/cost improvement initiatives.
· Analyze mechanical component industry capacity to predict market constraints and drive sourcing policy counter measures to secure continuity of supply and cost optimization.
· Influence mechanical component vendors' manufacturing processes, technology decisions, and policies in beneficial and sustainable ways.
· Develop and execute mechanical component vendor strategies in support of business requirements for AWS Server and Networking hardware.
· Source, Select, Risk Assess/Mitigate, Qualify and On-Board new mechanical component suppliers.
· Successfully close complex negotiations including commercial terms, statements of work, SLAs, capacity, supply & pricing.
· Implement vendor performance controls to ensure operational excellence.
· Influence mechanical component designs for manufacturing, quality and cost optimization.
· Build a vendor base and business processes which scale with the business.
· Drive change through excellent verbal and written communication with data driven inputs.
· Communicated management and business partner presentation via white paper narratives.
· Create mechanisms to ensure details of the business are understood, managed, and improved upon.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
· 3+ years or relevant work of strategic sourcing and supplier management or shaped and formed metal/plastic-based mechanical component.
· 7+ years direct experience in technology procurement, contract negotiation, commodity management, and/or category sourcing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· MBA and / or advanced engineering degree.
· 7+ years direct working experience in mechanical based product development, manufacture, sourcing and supply operations in Supplier &/or manufacturer.
· Technical acumen in mechanical part design/development, fabrication techniques, tooling, statistical process control, and qualification testing with ability to connect to related business matters such as cost, manufacturing cycle time and yields.
· 10+ years or relevant work of strategic sourcing in high tech electronics / computing / communications fields.
· Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
· Experience managing external vendor C-level relationships with multi-million spend accounts.
