Our advertising products range from eCommerce ads that integrate the power of familiar shopping features to visually stunning Kindle screensavers. We can reach customers on Amazon properties, both web and mobile, and across our ad platform. A strategic part of our charter is to build a portfolio of self-service, cost-per-click advertising programs to enable both large and small advertisers to engage with customers in relevant ways. Core to these programs is our understanding of our advertisers and marketing programs from a robust analytical perspective. Teams are dedicated to diving deep into telemetry and performance data to drive insights and future marketing strategy to grow our self-service advertising programs among advertisers.

As an Economist on Marketing Science team, you will build Econometric and Machine Learning models for causal inference and prediction, using our world class data systems. You will apply economic theory to solve business problems in a fast-moving environment, and analyze the customer behavior of the advertisers on Amazon. You will measure and predict the lifetime value of existing and future products, and build scalable systems to ensure that our models have broad applicability and large impact. You will work with Scientists, Economists, Product Managers, and Software Developers to provide business solutions and increase the velocity, quality, and scope behind our recommendations.


· PhD in Economics
· 2+ years of work experience in applied statistics, econometrics, or consulting
· Experience working with big datasets
· Experience in using one of Stata, R, or Python is required
· Effective written and oral communication skills


· Applicants with considerably more experience, including mid-career, are also strongly encouraged to apply
· Domain expertise in quantitative marketing.
· Experience working with tech teams to launch production models and to conduct experiments at scale
· Proficiency in one or more production languages (Scala, Java, Python, C++)
· Experience presenting to senior business leaders
· Experience programming in Scala/Spark on EMR.
