EU Lead - HR Risk & Compliance

Amazon’s HR organization is growing fast and expanding internationally at an amazing pace. The HR Risk & Compliance team is responsible for managing global compliance programs that include inventory management, assessing, controlling and monitoring important HR and employment-related risks in the markets where we do business.
As a member of Amazon’s HR Risk and Compliance team, the Principal HR Risk and Compliance Manager, will be an integral team member working with global HR policy, process, and system owners to manage a HR Compliance service that includes all areas of HR compliance for Amazon in EU.

This includes researching legal and regulatory obligations with local labor and employment attorneys, working with and leading project teams to translate legal, regulatory obligations into system or process requirements and where applicable implement them. Monitoring the effectiveness of controls designed to meet obligations on a regular, and ongoing basis, and developing and leading remediation plans to mitigate risk. These projects may be driven by new legal and regulatory requirements, geographies, types of business, solution implementations, or emerging risk issues, among other things.

Specific responsibilities will include:
• Lead and deliver global compliance programs and services, encompassing HR compliance obligations outside of US.
• Partner with Legal and other internal teams to identify requirements and propose business solutions and influencing stakeholders across organizations to act.
• Be able to build a Service Offering for Compliance.
• Respond to operational queries and intake service requests.
• Dive deep into data to analyse trends, troubleshoot and insights into compliance requirements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional or military experience
• 10+ years of experience in HR with significant compliance related experience and/or employment related legal compliance
• Experience of HR audits, control testing and risk frameworks
• Experience as a project or program manager
• Experience in MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Advanced degree in a related area (HR, JD or MBA)
• Fluent in at least one major European language (French, German, Italian, Spanish) other than English
• 10+ years of experience managing or supporting HR compliance requirements from equal employment/equity compliance to Immigration, Pay and Time or contingent workers. HR service and compensation programs would also be preferred.
• 5+ years of experience as a project or program manager managing large global programs and projects for a multi-national company
• Advanced experience with MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship
• Experience with commercial bid tendering processes for HR requirements
• Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and generate innovative solutions in an extremely fast-paced environment
• Problem solver, able to troubleshoot issues independently or escalate when necessary - sense of accountability and sound professional judgment
• Proven analytical capabilities; experience with large amounts of data and in developing audit reports, metrics, and reporting mechanisms
• Strong internal and external customer service focus
• Experience working as part of a virtual team across time zones
• Strong change management, negotiation and influencing skills
• Experience with rapid and complex changing work environment
• Experience working as part of a virtual team across time zones
