Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) enables customers of all sizes to run their applications on our industry leading cloud infrastructure.

The EC2 Pricing Strategy & Economics group is looking for an Economist to join our cross-functional team of Economists and Product Managers. Our group is responsible for EC2’s global pricing-positioning strategy and has influence over product strategy and go-to market actions. We don’t expect you to be an expert in EC2 or cloud computing but we do expect you to be naturally curious and excited to learn about them.

In this role you will collaborate with other Economists, PMTs, Data Scientists, Engineers, and other specialists as you work at the intersection of causal inference and empirical IO to further EC2’s growth. Our space is fast growing and relatively under-explored from an economic viewpoint with a variety of open questions still standing. As a member of our team you will be presented with opportunities to add value through research and developing methodologies & frameworks as you contribute towards launching and steering some of AWS’ largest initiatives, gaining frequent exposure to senior leaders across AWS.

Candidates who are a strong fit for the role are:
· creative, bringing an imaginative perspective when confronted with challenging problems
· curious, interested in understanding how customers make decisions and applying gained insights to improve how EC2 meets & serves customers
· bias towards econometric analysis that deliver practical value for decision making

Team Culture
You should be excited about working with a collaborative team that welcomes curiosity, creativity, and a diverse set of backgrounds and skillsets to deliver results. We believe that our experiences shape our perspectives and that the best solutions to a problem arise from viewing it from a variety of angles. Because of this belief, our group is enthusiastic about attracting, developing, and retaining talent from all backgrounds.

Life/Work Balance
Our team is focused on balancing life with work which we accomplish by developing processes that enable us to scale faster than the business. Work hours are largely flexible and typically self-defined.
