Principal Developer Advocate - Java Specialist

Job ID: 1585032 | Amazon Web Services, Inc.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Principal Developer Advocate (DA) to join the Global DA Specialists team. AWS’s DA Specialists work both externally with the community to drive adoption of AWS solutions and internally with Service Teams to build better products and features. The team covers themes like AI/ML, Data, Security, Modern App Development, Cloud Infrastructure and Emerging Technologies. In this position, you will specialize on Modern App Development with a focus on Java.

As a Principal Developer Advocate in the AWS Developer Relations organization, you will work to earn trust with Enterprise developers and the broader Java community through your technical leadership and expertise. This is a high-impact role that's well-suited to someone with domain-specific technical experience that enjoys sharing what they have learned in order to help users solve their technical issues and overcome any challenges they face. You will have the ability to influence and educate customers at every stage of their experience with technologies such as OpenJDK, Serverless, Containers, DevOps tools and more.

You will produce technical content to help the community of Java developers adopting new capabilities of the language and building modern applications. You will represent AWS in the Java User community and will participate to open source initiatives.
In addition, you will create technical artifacts for customers to learn about new features, and guide their plans for building solutions on top of AWS. You'll offer opinionated and timely guidance on how to make the most of the features and functions of AWS services in the Modern App category. This content includes blog posts, technical presentations, workshops, and video content. You will work with Amazon Corretto, AWS Lambda, Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS and other AWS services to create sample code and demo applications to help communicate complex ideas and scenarios.

We believe that a community of users is the happiest and best served when their voices are heard, when they feel they can impact the direction and quality of the products they use. You will engage with developers to identify and anticipate user challenges. You will represent the voice of developers from within the various service teams during the key phases of product development. You will leverage your hands-on technical experience and data you gathered from the community to influence the product roadmap. You will work alongside Product Managers and engineering teams to help design, build, and launch the best features possible to address our customers' biggest challenges.

In this role, you will spend time to learn and experiment on your customers’ behalf. This experience will inform your influence on the product roadmap. You will identify gaps in our products and documentation, and have direct impact on addressing those gaps. You will work with marketers to identify areas to engage the community, amplify the materials and resources you create, and identify areas of improvement in our public content.

Position may be located in Boston or near any AWS U.S. Corp office only. Relocation offered from only to these locations.
