Lab Technician - Center for Quantum Computing

DESCRIPTION

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) in Pasadena, CA, is seeking a motivated and experienced Lab Technician who will support the day-to-day operations of a growing research and development effort. By delivering across a broad range of areas, such as equipment maintenance, vendor coordination, inventory management, and logistics coordination, you will help enable a team of scientists and engineers to develop future quantum technologies. You will work with multiple teams to make sure operational processes and requests meet the needs of the business. Successful candidates have meticulous attention to detail, excellent troubleshooting skills, and adaptability to changing requirements.

Responsibilities include:
· Assist with equipment transport, installation, and maintenance
· Coordinate with vendors for on-site services
· Ensure equipment and lab environments are properly cleaned and maintained through the use of appropriate tools
· Write work orders, record maintenance results, and read and update drawings and other documentation
· Maintain product data as well as packing receipts, shipping documents, and delivery logs
· Ensure stock integrity of lab supplies and common consumables through inventory management and receiving processes
· Track orders, send/receive shipments, verify packing slips against procurement request, coordinate shipments with senders/receivers (pallet jacks, hand trucks, dollies, etc.)
· Collaborates with EHS team to conduct periodic audits and take action on the fixes requested
· Follow established documents/procedures and create them as needed
· Comply with procedures, rules, and regulations
· Serve rotations of emergency on-call support
· Additional duties as assigned
New hires will need to meet the following criteria:
· Valid Driver’s License and able to satisfy Amazon driver eligibility criteria, willing to get forklift qualified
· With or without reasonable accommodation, be able to lift up to 49 pounds on some occasions, stand/walk for up to 8-10 hours (with breaks), and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical lab environment
· Able to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
· Able to set priorities and make sound business decisions with data
· Proven track record of delivering results on time

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in a STEM related field
· 3+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field
· 3+ years of hands-on experience in assembly and maintenance of complex scientific instrumentation
· 3+ years of asset management/inventory control experience
· Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), enterprise asset management (EAM) tools, or similar
· Experience in shipping/receiving operations and sourcing lab supplies/consumables
· Experience in project management
· Experience in on-call emergency rotations
· Strong troubleshooting, organizational, writing, and communication skills
· Proficient in Office software and willingness to learn proprietary systems
