Job summary
Amazon’s Legal Team is looking for a talented attorney to support our rapidly growing and evolving global logistics business. You will be working with a business team focused on eliminating borders for buyers and sellers around the globe by simplifying and expediting the import and export process and offering an array of cost-effective ocean and air shipping options. This business engages with selling partners, transportation and logistics providers, governments and trade officials from the busiest to the most remote locations around the world. You will be an integral part of the business team, giving input on business strategy, in addition to serving as lead counsel on strategic commercial deals and regulatory matters, resolving issues that arise in commercial relationships, and handling pre-litigation disputes and inquiries. You will develop strategies for handling legal and policy issues in creative, business-centric ways, and you will build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly. You also will spend a lot of your time structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex commercial deals and agreements across multiple jurisdictions.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, delighting customers, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. There will be a strong international focus to your work. Some travel, domestic and international, will be required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Juris Doctor of Law or international equivalent
• 5+ years as a practicing attorney, with at least three of those years at a top law firm, corporation, military, or similar experience
•Maritime, freight forwarding, transportation, cross-border logistics, or similar experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Membership in good standing in at least one state or foreign bar


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A mix of law firm and in-house experience is a plus
• Sound and practical business judgment as well as common sense, creativity, curiosity, and a good sense of humor.
• Hands-on project management experience, including excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a large number and variety of mission-critical projects.
• Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
• Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity
