In Accelerator, we enable brand owners across the world to create new brands sourced from qualified manufacturers and sell them exclusively on Amazon. Through Accelerator, we scale services that we build in Amazon Private Brands, enable brand owners to reach their full potential faster and give them a unique opportunity to supply for Amazon Private Brands.

We are looking for an experienced and curious data scientist with superior analytical skills to generate data-driven insights influencing the direction of Amazon Accelerator, build the necessary predictive models, optimization algorithms and customer behavioral segments allowing us to discover and shape the value proposition of Amazon Accelerator.

In this role, you will be a technical expert with significant scope and impact. You will work with Business Intelligence Engineers, Financial Analysts, Product Managers, Program Managers, Software Engineers, Data Engineers, and other Data Scientists, to build new and enhance existing ML models to optimize customer experience. The successful Data Scientist will have extreme bias for action needed in a startup environment, with outstanding leadership skills, proven ability to build and manage medium-scale modeling projects, identify data requirements, build methodology and tools that are statistically grounded. This role can be based in San Diego, CA, or Santa Monica, CA.


Key job responsibilities
· Leverage your business acumen and judgement to work with program stakeholders on defining analysis requirements. You will help bring clarity on how to approach and resolve problems in poorly defined spaces.
· Use a range of data science techniques and methodologies to define the methodology and conduct the analyses. Make trade-offs between methods and apply best practices to validate your solutions.
· Gather and consume complex and large amount of data across multiple sources. Collaborate with data sources owner to validate data integrity.
· Document outcome of the analyses and present to both technical and non-technical audience, including leadership team.
· Share your knowledge and help the analytics team develop sharper expertise in data science and how to use it for long-term decision making.

A day in the life
You will work with a variety of stakeholders including Program Managers, Business Intelligence Engineers, Finance, Economists, etc. to define the scope of the analyses you will own and formulate a recommendation on how to solve business problems.

About the team
You will be working as part of the Accelerator central team. Our team includes product, program, tech, data and science and collaborates with our global business teams to deliver value to the selling partners who participate in our program.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 3+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab)
· 2 years working as a Data Scientist

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Master’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Economics.
· 4+ years of experience with problems measurement, causal inferencing, multi-variate testing & design, A/B testing & design, descriptive analytics, and regression analysis.
· Good understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning models.
· Highly proficient in SQL and data manipulation techniques.
· Experience using Amazon technologies – Redshift, Sagemaker, Athena, S3, EC2, QuickSight, etc.
