Applied Cryptographer, Wickr

Job summary
The position will be to form the glue between developers and Wickr’s Cryptographic Research Teams. That is, the primary task will be to work closely with a team of developers to prototype, implement, test and tune the newest designs from Wickr’s Cryptographic Research program. The position will be responsible for communicating all relevant cryptographic concepts to the dev team and ensuring the implementation reflects the designs intension. The primary implementation language (for production code) will be Rust. The focus will be on next generation end-to-end secure protocols.

The secondary task will be to provide feedback to the Cryptography Research team based on lessons learned from your developer work. The feedback will include things like identifying problems or potential new features in the cryptographic designs to help guide the research program. Deeper collaboration on specific research projects with the research team will, on occasion, also be an option.

An ideal candidate for this job has the following traits:
· Strong background in applied cryptography or cryptographic engineering. Especially with a focus on cryptographic protocols.
· Experience coding security sensitive applications.
· Good command of Rust.
· Good communicator. In particular, able to communication technical topics to non-experts.
· Works well in teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

An ideal candidate for this job has the following traits:
· 2+ years post undergrad in cryptography. Especially with a focus on cryptographic protocols.
· 1+ year experience coding security sensitive applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Good communicator. In particular, able to communication technical topics to non-experts.
· Works well in teams.
