The Role:
As a Display EE Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative consumer products. You will work closely with an internal inter-disciplinary team, and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and test. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the technical lead for one of the display/optics components through the entire product life cycle, from road mapping through design in to mass-production support
  • Manage the technical relationship with vendors to deliver display components to the required specification and schedule
  • Perform hands-on bring-up, testing and troubleshooting of touch subsystems and display assemblies and associated control electronics
  • Function as a subject matter expert on display technology by providing up-to-date, accurate information to colleagues and management
  • Travel to supplier and contract manufacturer sites world-wide to support product development activities (10% - 20% travel)


About the team
The team’s primary goal is to design & integrate display modules for Echo MM & Halo devices org. Our team scope & conceives display modules to meet end product and internal customer requirements (PM, System eng, Touch eng, TPM, ID, SW/UX & Ops). The team investigates various display modules, scope the sub-components from vendors, integrates into system (PD, MLB & FW), tests integrated performance (optical, electrical, mechanical & process capability), scales the builds for MP and debug all technical issues throughout the stack. This team collaborates with other Amazon teams on new technologies looking for new innovative ways that can improve our products. We build working demo and architecture documents for new technology Proof-Of-Concept evaluations with a startup mentality to fail fast. The team is focused on HW product development (NPI), New Technology Investigation (NTI) and support issues in sustaining shipping devices from the field.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced Degree (MS, PhD) in display engineering, electrical engineering, physics, materials science, optics.
  • 3+ years of experience in the display industry.
  • Experience with front-end LCD/OLED/LCOS development including TFT layout, circuit simulation and display module integration.
  • Opto-electrical testing experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Programming for test-automation and data analysis, C#, C++, LabVIEW, Matlab, Python, etc.
  • Experience in display system bring-up, debug, fault detection, root cause and failure analysis.
  • Experience in developing hardware test solutions utilizing both internal and third-party vendors on subjects: image processing and computer vision, optical test & calibration automation.
  • Proven display subject matter expertise in OLED/LCD/LCOS panel design, front of screen quality definition, display materials and processing, Opto-electrical testing.
  • Knowledge of geometric, physical optics, computational imaging or micro-optics emphasizing modeling and hardware prototyping.
  • Deep understanding of display metrology, photometry, and color science.
  • Strong track-record of delivering products with extensive experience in display design, characterization, manufacturing process and test, consistent with
  • Excellent analytical skills, hands on problem solving, testing, and trouble-shooting hardware.
  • Strong communication skills to manage cross-disciplinary discussions across diverse cultures with clarity and positivity.
