Job summary
Our mission at Demeter, a team in Amazon’s Personalization organization, is to empower Amazon customers to make more informed purchasing decisions. We do this by creating an authoritative knowledge base for every product in the world. We build data pipelines that deploy advanced machine learning models to harvest product attribute information from externally-available web pages, and publish our knowledge to help our partners create better shopping experiences.

As a Software Development Engineer on this team, you will:

  • Team up with our engineering team, including Senior and Principal engineers, to design and build data pipelines that process terabytes of data using the latest AWS technologies.
  • Collaborate with our team of leading Applied Scientists to develop and improve state-of-the-art machine-learning techniques such as web information extraction using graph neural networks (GNN) and deep learning.
  • Influence management team on tactical decisions and strategic direction.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science related fields OR 1+ years equivalent experience in software development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Track record building and delivering software systems that meet aggressive timelines.
  • Experience working with customers to define, gather, and refine requirements to ambiguous problems.
  • Familiarity with technologies like AWS EMR, Athena, Step Functions, and Sagemaker.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong coding practices, including good design documentation, unit testing, peer code reviews, and a preference for agile methods.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $143,700 -194,400 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
