The Role:
We are looking for a high caliber Applied Scientist Lead to join our team. As part of the larger technology team working on new consumer technology, your work will have a large impact to hardware, internal software developers, ecosystem, and ultimately the lives of Amazon customers. In this role, you will:

• Lead a team of talented audio scientists and SW developers to bring a new and innovative audio products and services to delight customers
• Propose new research projects, get buy-in from stakeholders, plan and budget the project and lead the team for successful execution
• Work closely with an inter-disciplinary product development team including outside partners to bring the prototype algorithm into commercialization
• Mentor team on music/speech/acoustic processing technology development
• Manage small team of world class scientists and SW engineers in audio
• Take a big part in the mission to create earth's best employer
Be a respectable team leader in an open and collaborative environment


• Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Science/Physics or other relevant major
• 5+ years of R&D experience in consumer electronics industry with focus on new technology development
• 2+ years of project lead or direct people management experience
• Experience with audio (music/speech/acoustic) signal processing and algorithm development
• Knowledgeable with DSP and or ML theory and practice
• Experience with creating novel signal processing technologies and commercial deployment
• Experience with Linux audio pipeline and real time processing
• Experience with C/C++, Python and Matlab programming
• Experience in mission critical SW development process - agile management, version control, build process, QA testing.
Excellent communication skills on both written and verbal format


• PhD or 7+ years of R&D experience
• 3+ years of direct people management including track record of hiring talents and performance management
• Proven record of commercializing highly visible consumer audio features for music, speech or intelligent sensing applications
• Strong personal interest in learning, researching, and creating new technologies with high commercial impact
• Sound understanding of science behind audio - acoustics, transducers and hearing
• Track record of creating healthy and positive work culture by leading with examples
