Email engineering team’s mission is to build technology that help customers stay informed of AWS’s products, programs, and services, via helpful, timely, and relevant communication in the email channel. The AWS Email Marketing Team is building world-class personalization and campaign management platform that will drive the customer experience and the overall impact of communications delivered through the AWS email channel. The team provides AWS global marketing stakeholders with tools, governance, and the operations support to effectively deliver programs that drive AWS growth and adoption. This means you will have a direct impact on the success of AWS in attracting, nurturing, and delighting our customers.

Key job responsibilities
We are looking for experienced technical experts to help deliver industry leading next generation services architected for the cloud. You will be part of the team that architects, designs, and implements highly scalable distributed systems that provide availability, reliability and performance guarantees. This is a hands-on position where you will be asked to do everything from building rock-solid components to mentoring other engineers. You need to not only be a top software developer with a good track record of delivering, but also excel in communication, leadership and customer focus. This is a unique and rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor within a fast-growing business and help shape the technology, product and the business. A successful candidate will bring deep technical and software expertise and ability to work within a fast moving, startup environment in a large company to deliver solid code that has a broad business impact.

About the team
We are a fast moving, start up style 2 pizza team, with members located in the Austin, Texas as well as in Seattle, WA.
The team stays closely connected to each other through learnings and fun activities, and work together to build and launch top notch systems and experiences for our customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in test framework design and development
  • Strong CS fundamentals and understanding of software development life cycle, with demonstrated experience in an SDE role
  • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
  • Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly
  • Experienced in Agile or Scrum software development methodologies
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Successful track record of mentoring and growing junior SDE's

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $143,650-194,349/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
