Job summary
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Nonprofit Team (NPO) is seeking a customer obsessed leader to drive strategic engagements with high impact nonprofit institutions including but not limited to those focused-on health and life sciences, conservation, and public policy.

The Industry Advisors Team is responsible for meeting nonprofit research institutes where they are in their digital transformation journey, and supporting organizational objectives through accelerated cloud adoption. Working to align the business needs of the customer with the power and agility of AWS, the Principal Strategic Advisor - Research Institutes will share their superpower of simplifying the complex to craft and communicate a vision that can be scaled. The Principal Strategic Advisor - Research Institutes will blend their strong understanding of AWS and its services, with their direct experience having worked in or with a nonprofit research institute to think big. Impact will be seen through established and trusted relationships with senior leaders internally across ONEAmazon and more broadly across the nonprofit industry.

Key job responsibilities

  • Serve as an inspired catalyst for cloud adoption
  • Be a forward-looking thought leader who develops strategies that deliver results for high impact nonprofit research institutes
  • Develop a mechanism for new customer engagement that is scalable and repeatable
  • Lead external and internal conversations with senior-level leaders to increase alignment between AWS’ services and the needs of nonprofit research institutes
  • Work closely with sales, partnership, program and marketing teams to create and execute strategic account plans
  • Define core executive personas to educate, enroll, engage and evangelize opportunities only available through the cloud
  • Establish a go to market strategy for nonprofit research institutes that reflects AWS’ business plans and priorities
  • Create and review content including presentations, customer success stories, blog posts, etc. in support of delivering business outcomes
  • Deliver on quarterly and annual revenue targets aligned with team and department strategic priorities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of direct work experience with or in nonprofit research institutes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Known and respected experience at the senior leadership level with a premiere nonprofit research institute
  • Experience driving complex business and digital transformation initiatives at the CxO/EVP/VP level
  • Effective at adaptive presentation - simplifying complex concepts, and conveying them to cross functional audiences
  • Skilled at prioritization and time management in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical/quantitate skills; including ability to use hard data and metrics to support assumptions
  • High level of independent drive and accountability to proactively deliver results
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
  • Comfortable working with a broad range of tools including AWS, Salesforce and Microsoft Office.
  • Verbal and written communications skills in English
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree

The pay range for this position in New York City is $142,800 - $193,200/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
