We are seeking an exceptional Security Engineering Manager to join the Amazon Foundational Engineering Security Services team to support Subsidiaries. Foundational Engineering Security Services team develops identifies cross cutting localized security risks/areas for new or improved services, develops and iterates on managed security services. These services are consumed by Amazon acquisitions and subsidiaries to secure their environments.

You will manage a team of talented security engineers responsible for delivering innovative managed security services to ensure Amazon subsidiaries and Business Units meet our high security bar.

This position may be located in Arlington(VA), Seattle (WA), Austin (TX), and Relocation is available.

Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities Include:

* Lead security engineers and technical program managers (TPMs) responsible for developing security services for subsidiary environments.
* Identify cross cutting security risks from internal customers, determine priorities and negotiate priorities for new services and features for existing services
* Lead developing services spanning across various domains such as discovery, differentiated infrastructure, enterprise security, monitoring, detection and analysis, a combination of in-house and third-party solutions.
* Set vision and establish roadmap for new and existing services
* Establish technical standards and drive services technical architecture and engineering practices.
* Collaborate with partner technology and security teams on information security issues, providing strategic leadership and insights into securing our diverse subsidiary networks.
* Own all facets of team hiring, performance management and career development.
* Provide technical and soft skill coaching to maintain a motivated, innovative and effective team.
* Track and report on key results and initiatives being delivered by the team.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Risk Management, Engineering, or related discipline, or 10+ years’ equivalent technology experience
  • 10+ years of industry experience with a proven track record of delivering managed services or Enterprise Security products
  • 5+ years of providing executive level written and verbal communication across multiple levels of leadership involving both business and technical sides of the business.
  • Experience dealing with ambiguity and creating detailed solutions
  • Experience in generating automated metrics to measure IT security effectiveness and consistency


  • Experience working with and managing teams across multiple locations
  • Experience architecting/operating/securing Amazon Web Services
  • Information security professional certifications encouraged (SANS GIAC, CISSP etc.)
  • Experience with how to incorporate threat risk, costs, technology, business, and industry context into security solutions.
  • Track record of inventing, evolving, improving and simplifying security solutions.
  • Understanding of security for diverse technology environments such as cloud computing
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to drive innovation independently
  • Passion to make things better and resourceful, solutions-based approach to partnership
  • Security-related certifications (i.e. CISSP, CISA)
  • Experience in building highly scalable solutions
  • Possess an understanding of core information security principles and associated risk management principles
  • Experience with large enterprise environments
  • Experience with AWS products and services
