We are looking for an experienced Senior Software development manager to lead the development of highly visible Publishing, Composition and SDK services that enable developers to launch new devices and functionalities. In this role, you will be a member of the leadership team and a technical leader responsible for service development and operations. You will manage software managers and technical leaders. Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will set goals, team structure and processes, define/develop/realize the strategy and roadmap, identify resource requirements and hire against it, develop the careers of managers and engineers, deliver high-quality software that exceeds customer expectations, write docs that communicates bold vision, and maintain operational excellence of the services you own.

A day in the life
You will work with stakeholders from Alexa Echo devices, Smart Home and Automotive domains to define roadmap, cost new requirements, make prioritization trade-offs, and track dependencies. You will brainstorm new ideas with principal engineers to identify architectural synergies, address requirements, and scale services. You will review the operational and ticket dashboards to identify and prioritize customer issues resolution. You will identify resource requirements, hire against it, coach, mentor managers and engineers, and plan their careers. You will author docs to communicate bold vision, strategy, roadmap, and project updates.

About the team
The mission of the Anchor team is to provide a low latency, highly available interfaces and frameworks in Alexa Cloud to enable communication between Alexa enabled devices and Alexa Cloud. This group manages and delivers publishing, composition and SDK services in addition to the data metrics and analytics that are key drivers for determining the high value investment domains. The changes we make directly affect the developer experience, and consequently end customer experience. This position within the Alexa Multimodal Initiatives represents a unique opportunity to grow the team and business as we venture into new areas.


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in leading objected-oriented software development in Java, C++ or C#
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience making data-driven decisions and manage complex initiatives from conception to launch
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new domains, solve problems and translate customer needs into business and product requirements


  • Master's degree in technical discipline
  • 3+ years experience managing managers
