The Amazon Web Services High Performance Computing (HPC) team is looking for Software Development Engineers (SDEs) to develop new features, functionality, and capabilities for AWS Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA). As a contributor, you'll be part of a truly innovative team who strive each day to enable those breakthroughs.

The AWS HPC EFA team is building the software stack that enables low-latency, high-bandwidth networking for HPC and ML workloads. This is an opportunity to engineer systems that enable HPC workloads to scale, interacting with numerous AWS teams and Open Source Communities. As a developer in the AWS HPC EFA team, you'll partner with research and business teams to build new capabilities that surprise and delight our customers. Key job responsibilities
You will design, build and deploy new features that extend the performance and capabilities of the AWS HPC EFA product. You contribute to several open source projects for the user space software that makes EFA work. You support a fast-paced team by providing feedback on other designs and code.

A day in the life
You work with the HPC organization to help identify new opportunities to extend EFA to more customers, enabling more exciting scientific computing and machine learning workloads. You work with the hardware team to coordinate how your designs will integrate with the EFA hardware. You dive into technical details of how to help customers scale over thousands of machines.

About the team

  • Several years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Several years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
  • Multiple years of experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team
  • Experience programming in C
  • Proven ability to write optimized, correct code


  • Development experience with user-space network stacks (including, but not limited to, Libfabric or the Linux rdma stack).
  • Experience with performance tuning of High Performance Computing (HPC) software stacks.
  • Experience working in large Open Source projects
