Job summary
You will join the team that supports and develops the technology for our popular image related features that people literally see first when opening their Ring App. Our goal is to ensure a fast and reliable data delivery and positive customers experience, alongside building solutions and supporting new products that help Ring on their mission to make neighbourhoods safer.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive, design, and bring to market innovative consumer electronics products.

Key job responsibilities

  • Coding in Golang
  • Work closely with an internal interdisciplinary team and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and test, as well as this you’ll be involved in planning and maintaining database structures.
  • Participate in major engineering projects end-to-end with globally dispersed cross-functional stakeholders.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
  • Non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

  • Proficiency in Java/Kotlin or similar language
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Experience with hands-on software development
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting and problem solving skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with distributed systems or applications
  • Working experience with Cloud Computing (such as AWS) and infrastructure as code
  • Knowledge of technologies such as WebRTC/SDP/SIP/RTP
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Sharp analytical and troubleshooting abilities
