Job summary

This is a Department of Labor apprenticeship program. In order to be eligible you must be a spouse or a veteran who has served in the US Armed Forces.

The Military Technical Apprenticeship Program is an approved Department of Defense (DoD) SkillBridge Program. Active duty transitioning service members from any branch of service may apply if they meet the eligibility requirements. DoD Instruction 1322.29 allows service members to participate in the program with command approval. Your transition office will provide candidates with the necessary documentation to obtain approval. Program Start Date: 10/03/2022

This position can work out of either the Arlington, VA, Herndon, VA, Denver, CO, or Seattle, WA office locations based on business needs.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess an active TS/SCI with Poly security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate satisfy other security related requirements.

The pay rate for this position in Colorado is $78,900 per year. Our range of benefits may include health care, employee discounts, 401(k) savings plans, paid time off, and more. A day in the life
AWS has established a specialized group of service teams responsible for the work we are doing with the U.S. Intelligence Community. We are building some of the largest and most complex distributed systems in the world, and we need world class people to help us implement and operate them.

About the team
The AWS Intelligence Initiative Team is hiring cleared engineers for a unique opportunity to work with some of the best and brightest engineers and technical leaders. Engineers undergo an intensive 9-12-month development program to learn about operational culture, enhance their technical skills through a hands-on job path curriculum, complete rotations with engineering teams to obtain a holistic view of our technology, dedicated mentorship, and support from our program’s alumni all while obtaining a U.S. Government security clearance.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding, knowledge and experience in computers and computer systems
  • Strong desire to become a technical engineer, self-taught and demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • Prior Troubleshooting/Support Experience
  • Quick problem solving skills
  • Strong sense of ownership and urgency
  • Proven ability to navigate and learn quickly in ambiguity
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior enterprise/university experience with systems administration on either Linux/UNIX or Windows operating systems.
  • 1+ years of Linux experience and demonstrated proficiency with associated tools and languages; OR 2+ years Windows Server/enterprise experience.
