Job summary
The AWS Center for Quantum Computing is hiring a software engineer with expertise in electronic computer-aided design automation, computational geometry, and/or research software engineering. Working in a team of scientists and engineers, you will develop software for the automated design, layout, and simulation of superconducting or hybrid quantum devices and their packaging. Your work will enable the robust and scalable development of quantum information processors.

Key job responsibilities

  • Building software tools to automate the design, layout, and simulation of quantum devices and their packaging.
  • Mentoring research scientists who actively contribute to the codebase through pair programming, design review, and code review.

About the team
Our team is comprised of scientists and engineers from a variety of backgrounds. Our diverse perspectives help us innovate in quantum hardware design and design tools.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following are criteria of an ideal candidate but not required:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in computer science, physics, or related field.
  • Expertise in electronic computer-aided design automation, computational geometry, and/or research software engineering.
  • Track record of open source contributions.
  • Experience with the Julia programming language.
  • Experience working in a research environment with other engineers and scientists, especially on device design and/or device fabrication.
  • Curiosity and capability to research and learn new techniques or technical topics rapidly.
