Systems Development Engineers at Amazon is a unique role which organically emerged as the company evolved. Inspiration for the Systems Development Engineer came from Systems Engineers who “built” unique technology to solve business and customer problems.

Systems Development Engineers perform traditional Systems Engineering and writes or develops scripts, applications, or mechanisms to manage infrastructure. This role was created for the “builder” population of Systems Engineers who go beyond using basic tools and GUIs to implement infrastructure as code and even server-less systems.

Systems Development Engineers are expected to develop best practices, refine operational procedures and constantly innovate proactively. You will continuously identify areas of growth within the existing frameworks, tools and processes to develop further technical mechanisms to reduce waste and continuously improve. Our ideal candidate is autonomous, detail oriented, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and has experience working at scale.

Key job responsibilities
The Amazon Aurora team is searching for a System Development Engineer to develop efficient, scalable frameworks and automation tools for solving complex problems in space of Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Deployment (CD), Security Deployments, Integration Test Framework, Containerization etc. We're looking for a System Development Engineer who's self-driven, able to deal with ambiguity, passionate about giving customers the best possible experience and comes with strong systems engineering fundamentals.

Amazon Aurora makes it easy to deploy, operate, and scale Aurora for log analytics, application monitoring, full-text search, and more. Amazon Aurora is a fully managed service that delivers Aurora's easy-to-use APIs and real-time capabilities along with offering predictable performance and seamless scalability for production workloads.

* Programming experience with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java
* Bachelors degree in Computer Science with 3+ years of experience in a Software Engineering, DevOps, or Systems Engineering capacity.
* Bash experience plus knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python, Ruby)
* Demonstrated UNIX (preferably Linux) systems engineering skills.


* Experience using Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, EBS, ELB, RDS, etc.)
* Experience building container solutions using Docker
* Record of executing assigned tasks without or minimal supervision
* Meets Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
* Meets Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
