Our team's mission is to make amazon a single stop for all customers purchasing needs irrespective of where the customers are in their shopping journey( looking for inspiration, product discovery & research, comparing products etc.). Our team has an end-to-end view of the customer’s lifecycle that enables us to directly drive customer impact and positions us to influence prioritization of the overall Shopping investment mix across the short and long-term customer impact drivers (shopping journey traffic, shopping mission success rate, and purchase conversion rate), CX quality and core infrastructure initiatives both within the Shopping organization and across partner teams. We are in the early days of forming and operationalizing our analytics and economics frameworks for better understanding and measurement of the customer behavior throughout their shopping mission(s), especially early in the shopping funnel.

We are looking for a data science leader with strong business acumen and analytical thinking who can help us invent and build metrics to measure customer engagement(short & long term) , customer confidence , and value that the customers get while interacting with our CXs especially while seeking information related to their shopping missions. The person should be very innovative and should be able to work on problems with very high degree of ambiguity and influence business leaders at amazon with recommendations.

This person will also by a role model in the team who will influence the analytics team and oversee the critical analytics related to shopping missions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- MS in Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field
- 12+ years industry experience working on data science and machine learning projects
- Deep understanding and practical experience in several of the following areas: machine learning, statistics, optimization and forecasting
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to apply algorithms, which may include data profiling, clustering, anomaly detection, and predictive modeling methodologies

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- - PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field
- - 14+ years of experience working in data science
- - Significant peer reviewed scientific contributions in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Optimization or related field.
- - Extensive experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment
- - Strong fundamentals in problem solving and algorithm design
- - Ability to uphold a high bar for science development across multiple domains

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $145,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $294,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
