Software Development Manager - AWS Firmware Development, AWS Hardware Engineering, Firmware Development

Job ID: 2556217 | Amazon Data Services, Inc.

DESCRIPTION

The AWS Firmware team drives system innovation in the servers used by all of Amazon Web Services, including EC2, S3, EBS, CloudFront, etc. Our engineers solve the hardest problems that fuse software, hardware, and the cloud. We take big bets on new concepts, enabling AWS services to continue to revolutionize the industry.

We are looking for a seasoned, hand-on Software Development Manager to build and own the server firmware development and deployment space, including but not limited to BIOS, BMC, FPGA, and related firmware. As a manager in this team, you will lead a team of world-class software developers who thrive on creating innovative, scalable solutions for real-world data center infrastructure problems. You will lead a team to build, validate, and support firmware in diverse technology domains from embedded software to large-scale distributed software systems, using proprietary and open source technologies. You will drive new feature development efforts from concept to launch and beyond. You will own your team’s strategic vision and roadmap in defining and delivering new products and services. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and you’ll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas.

Why you will love it: You get to be the complete owner of your technology, from roadmap to design, development, test, to production. You will innovate on next-generation architectures (AI, hyperscale, etc.) servers. You will have a direct impact on our bottom line and the ability to deliver improvements for our developers. You will lead part of a growing, fast-paced, and fun organization. Along the way, you will learn cloud operation and make a positive impact on millions of customers.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Key job responsibilities
You will be leading a team of talented engineers to develop new and support existing servers in AWS data centers. The day-to-day job includes, hiring, mentoring and coaching employees to grow the team and their career. You will be accountable for delivering results to earn trust and serve our customers.
