PCBA Commercial Manager, Project Kuiper
DESCRIPTION
Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
Amazon Kuiper’s Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) Supply Chain (SC) team is responsible for all commercial, execution, delivery, and strategic elements of the PCBA supply chain necessary to support Kuiper’s satellite production and development requirements. Within that team we are split between Technical, Execution Delivery, and Commercial. We are seeking a Commercial Manager to join our Commercial Team and partner with internal business teams and key stakeholders to help grow our sourcing experience and procurement ‘know-how’ to ensure our sourcing strategies support production requirements and maximize operational value for Amazon. This role will help create, implement, and enhance commercial strategies associated with the PCBA SC including supporting the closure of bespoke commercial agreements with our suppliers, developing internal mechanisms associated with capital spend strategies and purchase order release strategies, and engage suppliers on recurring and nonrecurring spend negotiations.
Our Commercial Managers drive efficiencies in procurement strategy and commercial pricing, partner effectively with Finance partners to document financial impacts and risks of our strategies, and work closely with various other internal teams (Planning, Engineering, Execution, etc.) to enable efficiencies through effective partnership. The primary objective of the Commercial Team Sourcing team is to develop and execute commercial strategies that keep the procurement of critical PCBA resources, products, and services off the critical path.
This work spans the PCBA procurement lifecycle and purchase planning based on Kuiper’s production launch schedule, development of commercial strategies, Capital Expenditure estimates, negotiations (pricing and performance terms) with suppliers, initiation of Amazon Purchase Orders (POs), and post-PO commercial considerations resulting from Changes.
The nature of this scope requires a Commercial Manager to work across organizations and influence internal and external stakeholders. Internally, the Commercial works with stakeholders to drive strategy, enable execution, and identify and mitigate risks. Externally, this role serves as one of the primary supplier-facing roles and is responsible for ensuring Amazon’s policies are adhered to and interests are achieved.
This role is expected to operate both at the tactical and strategic level.
