This role will be responsible for Amazon Intermodal Network Design, focusing on optimizing intermodal attainment across the Amazon network to improve speed, compound cost savings and drive sustainability for a $1B+ business.

Amazon Intermodal (AZIM) is key to Amazon’s internal transportation mix and is our preferred mode of transportation when we favor cost and sustainability over speed for long-haul (> 500miles) shipments. In 2018, Amazon embarked on their 1P (AZIM) strategy to increase capacity and reduce cost, and since then have scaled to be the 4th largest intermodal carrier in NA. The Senior Manager of AZIM Network Design will lead optimization and design related initiatives.

The Amazon Intermodal team is experiencing rapid growth and is looking for a talented, driven, curious and highly analytical executive, with an appetite for driving change at a large scale. The successful candidate will have strong program management, analytical and communication skills. You are analytical and creative, and you don’t quit until you solve the problem. You thrive by providing business intelligence that is timely, accurate, and actionable.

Key job responsibilities
• Manage full lifecycle of complex cross-functional programs with considerable impact across multiple organizations.
• Development of the overall program strategy, tactically driving teams in and outside of your organization to deliver.
• Define the program (mission, vision, tenets), set objectives, analyze data and drive improvements that are quantified with metrics
• Work autonomously in an ambiguous environment, seeking to understand business problems, automation limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions and reasons behind leadership decisions.
• Partner with teams across the business you support and beyond to source, allocate, and coordinate resources.
• Partner with customers, internal/external teams to determine what projects move forward and in what priority order.
• Oversee gaps between teams, processes and systems, helping teams reduce exposure to classic failure modes (e.g., requirements not sufficiently understood or documented, ineffective cross-team collaboration, long-term impact(s) from third-party solutions, security not considered, insufficient stakeholder review, etc.).
• Solve ambiguous problems and proactively identify and mitigate risks (before they become roadblocks).
• Develop, implement, and govern KPI reporting for a portfolio of programs, providing visibility to the milestones, and performance across all projects.

A day in the life
Each day brings new challenges and opportunities to be a big leader and have the opportunity to truly run a business. The Senior Manager AZIM Network Design will build a team from the ground up. Hiring, developing and insisting on high standards for cost, process implementation and rigor, as well as KPI development will be the primary focus early on in tenure. Your team will drive reduce speed across each leg of the intermodal supply chain, work across Amazon and Rail partners to improve cost and, ultimately growing attainment and driving parity with to truckload.

- 7+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
- 7+ years of program or project management experience
- 7+ years of managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- 7+ years of working cross functionally across several teams experience
- 10+ years of supply chain experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements


- Experience delivering projects within scope, time, budget and quality
