Amazon.com is looking for best in class Fiber Engineers to help build one of the world’s largest and most complex networks. Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated, technically savvy Fiber Engineer to help develop and scale one of the world’s largest and most complex networks.

The ideal candidate will possess a technical background with a strong working knowledge and demonstration of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and fiber network design along with ability to streamline associated processes. He/She should have demonstrated ability to think logically about technical challenges, with the ability to break down and resolve issues independently. As well as:
- Experience working in GIS Systems
- Understanding of Underground Construction Techniques
- Understanding of Outside and Inside Plant Cabling and Routing
- Engineering and process design methodology
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
- Ability to work across multiple time zones

Key job responsibilities
As a Fiber Engineer, you will have the exciting opportunity to design fiber solutions and maintain records surrounding our fiber optic infrastructure using GIS and associated tools. You will:
- Interface with internal (Data Center Engineering, Business Developers, Deployment Engineers, Tool Automation) and external stakeholders (Construction Vendors, Engineering Firms, )
- Create engineering design and documents, single line drawings, cable routing, and splicing work packages.
- Ingest and audit GIS data for completeness and accuracy.
- Optimize processes to improve efficiency and delivery.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- BS or MS degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in an IT-related field.
- 2+ years experience working in GIS Systems.
- 2+ years experience in project/program management with a proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels.
- 2+ years of outside/inside plant engineering experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Programming language to assist in data and GIS analysis

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
