Pride is here at AWS.

Where everyone can build with pride.

Across AWS, we’re constantly building on our long-standing commitment of being a company that’s inclusive, diverse, and equitable. Where every employee can show up as they are and feel fully supported, valued, and empowered to be their best. Because when each of us feels confident to bring our true selves to work, there’s no limit to what we can build together.
“Since joining AWS, I realize that the company strives for more than just acceptance—it aspires to achieve equity.”

“I’m an open book. I know the more I lead with vulnerability, the more empathy it creates for differences, introspection, and inclusion. It’s when people realize that appearances don’t always match reality that assumptions and unconscious biases are challenged and the door opens for more authentic conversation and connection.”

“I was in the Navy for six years before entering AWS through the Military Apprenticeship Program. In the military, I had to fit a specific mold. I had to cover my tattoos and forgo dying my hair. I also didn’t identify as non-binary then. Being able to come to work now and just be myself, feels amazing.”

“My acceptance with my gender identity and expression started when I first joined AWS. It’s something I never thought I could openly talk about at work. As much as we’re known for being a tech company centered around creativity, innovation, and growth, we’re also about diversity and a safe place for being authentically you.”

“As a leader at AWS, I know the more visible I can be about this component of my identity, without it being my sole identifier, the more powerful of a message it sends to all my colleagues that we truly accept, celebrate, and include diversity at all levels.”

“I grew up in a conservative Chinese family, so my identity started with something I needed to hide. And yet, I’ve never felt like I was being treated differently because of my sexuality at AWS. I really appreciate the work that the company has put into making this kind of environment possible.”

Our Mission

The rights of LGBTQ+ people must be protected.
We believe that everyone—regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression—should be free to live authentically and feel like they belong. Because of this, we were early supporters of marriage equality and advocates for protecting the rights of transgender people. We stand together with the LGBTQ+ community and are working at the U.S. federal and state level on legislation, including supporting passage of the Equality Act.

Champions for equality. Champions for each other.

AWS is committed to advocating for equality and acceptance every way we can and a big part of that is putting policies and benefits in place to help our employees thrive in both their career and personal lives.

Hiring diverse talent

We’re taking the appropriate steps towards building more diverse interview panels and candidate loops to ensure that our workforce reflects the world around us. For example, we’re in the process of removing gender bias through the hiring process by using “they/them” pronouns to address all candidates.

Connecting our employees and allies

Our glamazon employee resource group unites and empowers our LGBTQ+ communities around the world. With over 40 chapters in 25 countries, more than 2,500 global members work together to increase awareness of our community and allies, promote volunteer opportunities, and form partnerships that improve the LGBTQ+ experience everywhere.

Creating safe spaces

We realize everyone has a role to play in inclusion which is why we are actively creating safe and welcoming spaces at AWS. This includes offering gender-neutral restrooms in our offices and adding the use of preferred pronouns to our internal employee directory, communication channels, and email signatures.

Providing benefits for all

Our range of benefits are designed with employees and their families in mind. Parental leave is available for any type of parent including those in LGBTQ+ relationships. We also provide same-sex, domestic partnership medical benefits and transgender benefits in some countries, including gender transition coverage.

Taking action beyond our walls. And into the future.

We understand driving real change means being advocates even outside of the workplace. Which is why we’re proud to share some of the larger initiatives we’re tackling on a global level.

Advocating for LGBTQ+ rights

We’re supporters of domestic and international legislation for equal rights and treatment. Most recently in the United States, we were among the first to join a coalition of major companies to publicly endorse the Equality Act.
