As an Automation Engineer, you are the subject-matter expert for all control systems and sensors within a building. You actively monitor, find faults and repair systems in order to provide a high level of equipment availability.

What you typically do:

  • You work within the EU Controls network to enhance the capability to monitor Material Handling Equipment metrics and provide visualisation and data to internal customers by troubleshooting and prioritising.
  • You actively participate in projects or work on your own continuous improvement projects coordinated by the EU Controls network.
  • You collaborate with IT, EU Controls Engineering and Operations Engineering to ensure that all systems are correctly documented and accurate backup libraries are maintained.
  • You train technicians in the basics of control-systems fault finding in order to raise the level of knowledge within the site.

Judith V.

Automation Engineer | Seville, Spain

Judith is an Industrial Engineer who holds a Master’s degree in Robotics and Automation. She joined Amazon when the Seville site launched, and she has since fallen in love with Amazon's culture and its goal to improve every day.

Judith's role as an Automation Engineer is to test, troubleshoot, and improve automated material handling equipment to increase equipment availability. She and two other colleagues maintain all the controls systems at their site, continually improve metrics reporting, and provide robust data visualizations to internal customers.

Judith has always loved being part of a team, learning new things, and taking on big challenges that require her to perform at her best to exceed expectations. As a former synchronized swimmer, she knows well that every team member is essential and that when they combine their strengths toward a common goal they can accomplish amazing things.

Outside of work, Judith and is a scuba diving instructor and she loves traveling by plane.
