Marta C.

Apprenticeships Sr Program Manager | Barcelona, Spain

Marta joined Amazon in 2016 as a Reliability & Maintenance Engineer (RME) and she is now the Apprenticeship Senior Program Manager for Spain. As an RME manager, she had the opportunity to build a team, and along the way, learned that she loves to “interview people, dive deep into their interview answers, and identify the passion that leads them to a new career at Amazon.”

During 2020, Marta has been building the Apprenticeship program. When asked about the program, she says “this is a new experience. Amazon offers a program so that young people can continue learning while they start their professional careers. The program is a success, recently we onboarded the first cohort of RME apprentices in Spain. I was so happy to see them in their new roles.”

When asked about women in engineering, Marta says “I am thrilled to see the Women in Engineering Community growing over time. Being part of such a team, driving inspiration, and helping to get more women candidates interested in engineering is rewarding.”

To future Amazonians, Marta would say “Be professional of course, but be genuine, create your own brand or leadership style. And of course, always enjoy what you are doing.” In her spare time, Marta likes to get outside and hike, trek, bike, or climb. She says, “I’m not an expert in anything but I enjoy all of these things."

Cristiano A.

Automation Program Manager | Rome, Italy

Cristiano joined Amazon in 2017 as an Automation Engineer to help manage the launch of the first site in Italy to incorporate Amazon Robotics technology. In 2018, he was promoted to Senior Automation Engineer and began leading key projects and growing and developing a team of Automation Engineers. Cristiano loves working with others to face and overcome challenges, while exceeding goals. He always strives to be resilient and positive. His leadership and customer obsession helped the Passo Corese site become one of the top performing Amazon Robotics sites globally.

Since 2019, Cristiano has been part of the EU RME Central team. He and his team lead all the controls topics of the Amazon Logistics world, support local Automation Engineers, fix issues, conduct trainings, develop projects, and drive improvements. They work to find the best solutions to improve quality and throughput, and they lead the launch of new buildings, onboarding Automation Engineers to manage controls topics with vendors. Cristiano is the main POC for the supplier for the controls topics.

Outside of work, Cristiano was a midfielder with a natural propensity for scoring goals until his knee decided it was time to switch to another sport. Now he is a solitary tennis player.
