About Lexington/ Winchester
"Athens of the West"
Central Kentucky is famed for the bluegrass horse farms that have bred some of the world’s finest thoroughbreds. Managing city growth while maintaining the culture that the city is known for has been a challenge for the Lexington metropolitan area, but they have managed the job nicely.
Lexington has been ranked among America’s most educated cities, inspiring technology companies to settle there.
Outside of horses, the Lexington History Center resides in what used to be the county courthouse. Annual art fairs happen in May and August, weekly Farmer’s and Arts Markets run throughout the summer, and Cheapside Park hosts a series of free, public concerts.
