A world city of culture, politics, media and science.
Berlin is the capital city and one of the 16 states of Germany. With a population of 3.5 million, it’s the country’s largest city and the seventh most populated urban area in the European Union. Home to renowned universities, research institutes, orchestras, museums and celebrities, as well as host of sporting events, it’s a world centre for culture, politics, media and science too.
Not surprisingly, Berlin is also a popular tourist destination. And its urban settings and historical legacy boost its appeal for international film productions as well. Here you can make the most of a wealth of diverse festivals, architecture, nightlife and contemporary arts, along with strong transport networks and a high quality of living. At the same time, around a third of the city's area is made up of forests, parks, gardens, rivers and lakes, making it easy to escape from the pace of daily life.
