Amazon opened its doors in Costa Rica back in 2008 with 75 employees, today we are more than 9000.

Student Programs

Technical High Schools

We offer learning and employment opportunities for current students of Costa Rican technical schools, as an initiative to support the national education system.

The program includes:

  1. Reinforcement of the English language
  2. Internship at Amazon Costa Rica
  3. Job Offer (if requirements are met)

Students get hired for Customer Service, Finance, Accounting, Productivity and Quality and IT roles.

Universities Program

We strive to hire the brightest minds from the best universities globally. MBA, Master, and Undergrad level students at Amazon are given the opportunity to think strategically and make decisions that have a significant impact on our customers and our business.

Internships can last from four to eight months. The program currently hires seasonal Project Managers, Operations Managers and Team Managers, from Costa Rican based colleges, Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología, Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, and Texas Tech University; from Spanish universities, IESE Business School, University of Navarra, and Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, in México.

The application process starts in November for international students, the process includes relocation, and the internships begin in July.

For local students, the application starts in August, and internships in September.

Students can expect to hear back from us a month after they apply.

We will send the contract to your email address the Sunday before your training date.

The contract is written according to the Costa Rican labor law, it establishes 1 day off per week as minimum, and shifts cannot exceed 48 hours. Amazon improves labor conditions, you will work 5 days a week, 9 hours a day, with an unpaid lunch hour, for a total labor shift of 8 hours.

Yes, at the entrance please indicate to the security guard that it is your first day. You can request your parking permit once you begin training.

We suggest you bring a padlock for the locker that will be assigned to you. In addition, a warm sweater could be useful since the training room can get very cold.

You can benefit from the transportation starting the 3rd day of training. First, verify there is a regular route open and then book a spot according to your schedule needs. Routes are created based on demand and can be changed.

Our transportation team will send you a text message the day you start training to confirm you will use the service. Be ready 2 hours prior to your training schedule. Transportation will set the exact time to pick you up the next day and will provide more information. Door to door service is available for graveyard shifts on areas within the GAMazon map only.

Please remember that training is mandatory, hence permission to be absent will not be granted.

If you need a day off from production, you can discuss it with your supervisor.

No, we do not. However, we provide free popcorn, coffee and tea. There are also cafeterias at our sites.

Yes, you can choose the bank account of your preference to receive your payments. We normally use BAC San José as our bank, but if you want to change, there’s an internal ticket to solve it.

You may apply to an open internal position after 3 months working at the company.
