The team is responsible for cutting-edge development in Natural Language Understanding (NLU). Spanish Data Linguist Team (part of OMEGA) in Turin (IT) is responsible of new feature localization and implementation; high quality Spanish grammars development and delivery, Bugs analysis and resolution to improve the existing Alexa portfolio. We work closely with other Data Linguists, Language Engineers, Program Managers and Scientists to deliver magical experiences that customers love.

Amazon is seeking a Spanish Data Linguist to join our Alexa data team. This role focuses on building language solutions that power Alexa products including work in the areas of text annotation, grammar writing, data analysis, and localization

In this role you will be:
· Building a thorough understanding of data labeling conventions and provide support to global teams.
· Localizing established guidelines from English into Spanish.
· Developing Spanish grammars and other forms of NLU applications.
· Improving deployed grammars by expanding coverage, accuracy, and eliminating bugs.
· Delivering high quality data output under aggressive deadlines.
· Working autonomously with minimum direction.
· Handling unique data analysis requests from a range of data customers.
· Contributing to process improvements to reduce handling time and improve data output.
· Diving deep into issues and implement solutions independently.
· Providing expertise in data quality and process efficiency to support other team members.

In addition, the Spanish Data Linguist will need to quickly understand changes in response to customers’ requests and change workflows accordingly. Including:
· Show proactive efforts in addressing issues and problem.
· Excellent communication, strong organizational skills and very detail oriented.
· Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment.
· Willingness to support several projects at one time, and to accept re-prioritization as necessary.
· Ability to keep up with changing project conventions and priorities.


· Bachelor’s degree.
· Native level fluency in Spanish (CEFR C1 or above)
· Business level fluency in English. (B2 or above)
· Experience with language data handling or data markup.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, etc.).


· Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics.
· Experience working with grammars and other forms of speech or NLP technology
· Interest in semantics and related areas.
· Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and learn in-house user-interface tools.
· Experience with command line interfaces and basic UNIX commands.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
· Practical knowledge of data processing needs and trade-offs.
· Business level (B2 or above) fluency in English and in at least one language between Italian, French, German.
· Detail-oriented with excellent communication and strong organizational skills.
· Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills and a solution-oriented attitude.
· Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly-collaborative, dynamic work environment.
· Willingness to support several projects at one time and to accept re-prioritization as necessary.
