Senior Service Technician
The Senior Service Technician will have a significant impact on customer experience. The SST will lead a team of multi-skilled Engineering Technicians, design solutions for difficult problems, able to manage outside contractors, be on call for emergencies, ability to handle multiple projects, day to day activities of the Engineering team, work to tight time lines. Develop plans on how to accomplish departmental and distributional goals.
The SST will be responsible for the leadership/development and coaching of the team. Performance Management will be carried out by the SST. To lead the technical team in providing both a reactive and pro-active maintenance service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure within the FC. The role has a direct impact on the site, its productivity and operation. If equipment is not available or performs badly it minimizes the capacity and throughput of the site. This role impacts on all operation staff within the FC specifically those using conveyance, sortation or MHE equipment within the warehouse. Controls maintenance activity on shift and therefore the speed with which issues are resolved; this can have a significant service and financial impact during peak times.
Within a typical FC will work on equipment such as: multiple Receive lines, pick towers, tote conveyance, multiple pack lines, automated sorters, hundreds of pack stations, dozens of Applicators and various pick carts, stow carts, Rebin walls etc.

Responsibilities will include:
· To provide a service that ensures all mechanical and electrical equipment is running to its optimum performance and that all departmental SLA’s and KPI’s are met.
· To ensure that work is carried out to the highest standard and quality complies with all Amazon polices and guidelines, specifically Health & Safety policies/guidelines.
· To maximize availability of all mechanical and electrical equipment through continuous improvement and improve equipment efficiencies/cost reductions through Kaizens and other initiatives.
· To carry out modifications and installations when required.
· To liaise with contractors or external suppliers and clearly communicate technical issues and Amazon standards.
· To carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
· Repairing and maintaining MHE equipment
· Maintaining and repairing racking and shelving systems
· Repairing and maintaining pneumatic systems
· To provide technical support/input to projects and initiatives.
· To carry out ad-Hoc requests as and when required.
· Tracking and storing the department's inventory, including spare parts
· To provide supervision to all Technicians
· To develop training plans for all Technicians
· To carry out Performance Reviews
· To develop Preventive Maintenance programs
· To install, maintain, and troubleshoot power distribution systems, branch circuits, lighting systems, transformers, and wiring methods and materials
· Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components-- photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, Servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachs, and encoders
· PLC programs, ability to troubleshoot ladder logic (read use for troubleshooting), components (CPU back plains, I/O boards, counters, modules, and devices) and communications modules (Ethernet)
· To repair and maintain Bus Systems for example profibus, asibus
· To mentor technicians by motivating, providing guidance and directions to help them achieve their goals
· To develop and maintain a good working relationship across all levels in the organization
· Ability to provide enriched feedback to enhance individual performance
· Ability to prioritize and manage resources under high pressure

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:
5 GCSE, NVQ3, ONC/D, HNC, C&G 2330, 17th Ed. Apprentice Trained
· Experience in sortation machines and conveyor systems, maintaining/configuring bar code scanners and experience of print and apply machines
· Experience with machines especially packaging machines
· Multi skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines
· Able to fault find on electrical/pneumatic systems and motor controllers/inverters
· Read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
· Experience of planned preventative maintenance
· Good communications skills at all levels. BASIC English communication skills (written & verbal).
· Experience of working to appropriate health & safety standards and regulations
· Keeps others informed of information that contributes to the performance of the team, department or company (Team player).
· Excellent customer facing skills / customer focus.
· Able to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment.
· Willingness to train and learn new skills.
· Ability to work independently
· Ability for Troubleshooting under high pressure is essential
· Ability to communicate effectively, (written and verbally) with peers, management, contractors and vendors
· A completed Bachelor’s, High school diploma, Technician, Master or equivalent degree in a technical discipline (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Automation).
· PLC programs, ability to troubleshoot ladder logic (read use for troubleshooting), components (CPU back plains, I/O boards, counters, modules, and devices) and communications modules (Ethernet)
· Mentor technicians and Apprentices by motivating, providing guidance and directions to help them achieve their goals.
· Develop and maintain a good working relationship across all levels in the organization
· Ability to provide enriched feedback to enhance individual performance
· Ability to work all days and shifts in a 24/7 environment
· Proven Language skills in English
· Experience and proficiency in the following areas:
o Automated conveyors systems and controls
o Electrical and electronic principles
o Blueprint and electrical schematic reading
o Knowledge of CMMS(computerized maintenance management system) programs and implementation
o Preventative maintenance procedures
o Industrial electrical, controls, electronics
o PLC programs - Siemens S7 and/or Allen Bradley
o Industrial PC literacy
· Knowledge of N.E.C.
· Understanding of OEE and equipment performance metrics
· Knowledge of Statutory Compliance requirements
· Proven Leadership experience/aptitude,
· Proven ability to mentor and develop training plans for other service technicians
· Ability to deal with ambiguity
· Proven Experience of contractor management
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications: HNC, HND, BSc, BEng
· Demonstrated ability to manage, lead, and influence others on the team
· Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload
· Experience of multi-contractor management
· Must be highly self-motivated and customer-centric
· Leadership experience/aptitude, ability to mentor and develop training plans for other service technicians
· Experience with packaging machines
· Six Sigma qualification
· Experience in a multi-site environment
· Experience in international environment
· Expert level knowledge in OEE and EAM tools
