Jiangsu Province is a traditionally affluent area in the eastern China. The Yangtze River, the longest river in China, passes through the southern part of the province. The Yangtze also passes through Jiangsu's historic capital city, Nanjing.

Jiangsu has the highest GDP per capital of all Chinese provinces. Suzhou, Kunshan, and Wuxi are a few cities that attract heavy foreign direct investment.
