DiscoTec is the Discovery Technology and Science team. The DiscoTec team vision is to combine technology and science with innovation and creativity to pioneer the merchandising of the future. We create intuitive, personalised, and visually appealing cross-category shopping journeys (on and off-site) that help customers to engage with new, popular, relevant products, programs, and brands. We will achieve this by building and scaling new customer-facing features and experiences that drive incremental cross-category discovery and engagement, and new tools for marketers enabling curation, automation and measurement.
How does the team connect with Amazon?
DiscoTec is the first cross category team in the North America Stores organization. DiscoTec delivers value for retail customers by helping customers to discover the products they are looking for. DiscoTec powers cross category product recommendations across Amazon’s retail website, improving customer engagement. DiscoTec engages in events like Mother’s or Father’s Day, and also supports the US Prime business, by improving Prime customer experience.
What are the DiscoTec Tenets?
- While our focus is on enabling cross-category shopping journeys, we support individual category teams by reducing duplication and building a cohesive cross-category strategy, building our products, automation and measurement to easily scale to individual categories, and amplify the voice of category-specific marketing teams and drive prioritization on our partner teams’ roadmap
- We invest in scaling, automation and measurement but enable opportunities for curation in high-judgement situations, so that marketers can curate because they want to, not because they have to
- We seek out lightweight fast experimentation, but our proven solutions are delivered globally and at scale with the highest engineering standards
