In Books Tech, we build products and services to help our customers get more out of reading on multiple devices. Our team is looking for Software Development Engineers to join our diverse team based in Madrid. We build software to delight readers, authors, publishers, and sellers from around the world. Our teams work backwards from customers by understanding their needs through data and anecdotes to build solutions that deliver a great experience across a wide variety of devices, formats, and genres

Life as an SDE

What does it take to be a Software Development Manager (SDM) at Amazon? It takes passion and drive. It means interacting with your product so that our customers can interact with it too. It starts with people like Thiagaraja Gopalsamy, who is a leader in our Books division in Madrid. In this video, Thia pulls back the curtain on life as an SDM. He shares his initial challenges when he first joined Amazon over six years ago, and how the support he received from his colleagues gave him the confidence he needed to grow.

Join the Books Tech team

First things first, we’ll send you an online tech assessment via email. It should take no more than 90 minutes to complete, and if successful, you’ll be invited for a phone interview.

If that goes well, we’ll schedule you in for a round of in-house interviews with our team of developers. We’ll also arrange a call beforehand with hints and tips to help you prepare.

Find out more about the topics you’ll be expected to address at each stage.
