Amazon is seeking a strategic, self-motivated, experienced, and creative PR professional for the role of Head of Consumer and Retail Stores PR in France and Belgium. The candidate will manage a team responsible for proactive campaigns that increase awareness of new and established products and services, build excitement for large scale shopping occasions like Prime Day and Black Friday, and demonstrate the value customers get while shopping on Amazon. The candidate will also focus on educating customers on the benefits of Prime and how it enriches people’s lives. This individual will be responsible for building campaigns and momentum for exciting new and emerging product categories, including Grocery. They will also develop and implement campaigns that drive brand warmth and affinity by demonstrating all the ways Amazon is a force for good.

The candidate should demonstrate a proven track record of developing multiple measurable and effective consumer communications programmes for many different large, fast-moving organizations in France including managing complex issues, overseeing large scale campaigns with top earned media, significant social reach, and high-engagement influencer relations. This role manages a team that collaborates closely with business, product, and other PR leaders to launch and provide on-going strategic communications support for key services and initiatives.

The successful candidate should have leadership experience, as well as an entrepreneurial and goal-oriented approach. They should be a strategic thinker and enjoy working in a fast-paced, start-up culture, and, when the job requires, roll up their sleeves and get the job done independently with the same obsessive attention to quality and detail expected of their team. They also need to operate proficiently in English and French.


Key job responsibilities
• Oversee and manage Consumer PR including all strategic PR plans for core retail areas covering retail strategy, consumer campaigns, news generation and product placement including categories such as: Consumables (food, health and beauty etc), Private Brands, Hardlines (toys, sports and outdoor, gaming etc)
• Develop and oversee the delivery of an annual plan for Amazon focused on Consumer PR and social in France
• Develop industry leading integrated Consumer campaigns around our biggest and most meaningful key retail moments (notably Prime Day and Black Friday)
• Support the management of Amazon social calendar and influencer campaigns in France
• Lead strategic launches around shopping innovations
• Oversee PR for membership programs – with a focus on Amazon Prime
• Successfully manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges and issues / media inquiries related to the retail business
• Act as a business partner to Amazon retail category leadership teams across key areas, collaborating with internal stakeholder teams to drive successful program launches
• Deliver strategic communications counsel to internal executives on both short- and long-term challenges and opportunities
• Write strategic plans, messaging, and media facing materials; pitch and secure top-tier media, including print, broadcast and online outlets

SKILLS
• Consumer PR expert - a demonstrated feel for what works for a brand
• Strategic - ensuring that PR activity delivers against business objectives and articulates key messages
• Tactically aware - knowledgeable about what’s going on in the media and with the brand and able to marry the two at short notice for maximum PR benefit
• Cross-Channel Campaign Management - extensive experience of managing cross channel campaigns with both earned and social elements, including the use of paid strategies
• Proactive in the extreme - enjoys taking responsibility and making things happen
• Organised - able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously while managing essential admin work
• Leadership - able to inspire a team, vendors, and agency partners to deliver and demonstrate responsibility for PR to senior managers
• Language Proficiency - strong, business-focused writing skills in English and French
• Adaptable - able to work in a corporate environment
• Exercises good judgment – advising others on the best course of action and managing positive and negative media enquiries
• Social and influencer minded – able to build integrated campaigns that leverage new and emerging digital media including social and influencers

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in a senior leadership role either within a PR Agency or in-house
• Extensive experience that demonstrates a comfort in dealing with high-level consumer media contacts across news, lifestyle, and broadcast sectors
• Experienced people manager – takes pride in developing talent in the communications field
• Issues management experience including development of messaging and Q&A documents
• Strong understanding of measuring the impacts and benefits of PR programs
• Experience managing more than one consumer PR, influencer, or content agency, including large scale budgets
• Detailed budget management including resourcing vendors, staying on top of accounting and overseeing all financial deliverables
• Ideally educated to degree level
• Strong competency in basic Office software (Outlook, Excel etc.)
