The US Grocery Market Segment is projected to grow to $799B by 2026 and our mission is to enable our customers to discover and seamlessly purchase their Grocery needs on Amazon; quickly, efficiently, while lowering the overall cost-to-serve. In our vision to build the best Grocery experience, it is increasingly critical to deliver on Amazon’s goal of offering the Earth’s largest selection at the lowest prices to our customers.

This role requires an effective leader and communicator, with strong business acumen, acute analytical skills, and the demonstrated ability to use creative thinking and innovation to solve complex problems. We are looking for an individual that enjoys fast-paced, data-driven environments and will be a passionate customer and category advocate within Amazon. The successful candidate is a self-starter with a passion for retail and has superb business judgment with a track record of successful negotiations.


Key job responsibilities
• Defines the vision and business strategy for the category including North Star metric(s) and KPIs for measuring results
• Manages category P&L
• Develops vendor relationships inclusive of negotiation terms and growth focused initiatives
• Drives broad adoption and provide an unparalleled customer experience
• Devises clear frameworks for making day-to-day decisions
• Leads execution of projects including building project plans
• Drives commitments from internal teams including Marketing, Engineering, and Category Management


A day in the life
As a Senior Vendor Manager, you will have accountability for the business results for your product category (for example: Coffee, Beverages, Snacks and so on). During a typical day you would find yourself developing and executing the category strategy in partnership with your vendors. You will also lead contract negotiations and develop Joint Business Plans (JBPs) while partnering with internal stakeholder teams to deliver on this strategy. Given your overall ownership of the Category P&L (topline, bottom-line), you will deep dive into key business metrics to prepare insights and explanations for the Weekly Business Review meeting and Monthly & Quarterly Business Reviews. Among many other initiatives you will own growing the vendor relationships, driving sales and margin improvements and creating best-in-class customer experiences

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL
- Experience driving internal cross-team collaboration
- Experience using data to influence business decisions
- Experience with business analysis and P&L management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
- Experience negotiating with internal and external stakeholders
- MBA
- Experience presenting to senior leadership
- Experience in a related industry (e.g. grocery, CPG)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $96,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
