The vision of Amazon Global Logistics is to be the most sought-after non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) service provider shipping from CN to US and EU/UK for both owned and carried inventory. Over the next 3 years, we envision that Amazon Global Logistics will be the shipping provider of choice offering an unrivaled booking experience for our Customers (Amazon retail, Amazon devices, Amazon private brands, FBA and MFN Sellers and exports), shipping over 3.4B units and 900K containers. We will offer customers the best in class solutions for speed, cost and reliability supported by world class brokerage capabilities in all major regions, enabling Ocean and Air cross border inbound freight on 38 marketplace-to-marketplace arcs, Customer fulfillment from CN to 8 countries and Cross border fulfillment from Amazon FCs to Customers in 20 countries.
To achieve this, we are investing heavily in building the foundational components which will be delivered to deal with the scale, provide great customer experience and easily extend to new business opportunities in the logistics space. We are building cross border logistics solutions which eliminate borders between buyers and Sellers. These solutions enable the third-party Sellers to import or export their products across borders, thereby expand their business into new markets and get access to the customers around the world. Key job responsibilities
Principal Engineer will work with and influence a very talented engineering pool of 100+ SDEs in 12+ development teams across more than 3 Director/VP orgs. They will be expected to influence not just the tech teams but also the business product and operations teams who are also their customers. They would build simplified architecture that would power solutions for complex use cases and that would offer thousands of Sellers to ship millions of packages over domestic and international freight (Air, Ocean, Rail) to bring selection closer to the customers across the globe. They would be solving complex problems for Sellers, Shippers and Trade agents around International Shipment Management, Customs Compliance, Shipment Tracking, Seller and Shipper Identity, Financial Automation, Small Parcel Consolidation / De-consolidation, etc. with a strong focus on offering a cost effective, reliable and high-quality solution for international shipping. They will be working on wide-ranging business functions and technology stacks that need in-depth knowledge. They will be part of a dynamic group of engineers and technical leaders where flexibility, teamwork, and creative thinking are highly valued.
About the team
Charter of Global Mile Tech organization is to deliver simplified and delightful end to end experience for the Shippers, zero-touch financial automation and accelerate cross-border selection growth with Pan-regional programs, Global Remote Fulfillment, and Exports fulfillment solutions. The team owns the Shipping Experience Tech vertical which involves all the Selling Partner facing systems that enable shippers to onboard, get quotes, manage prices, submit, manage and track booking, pay bills and automate accounting. While current capabilities have been developed primarily for FBA Inbound, the Shipping Experience systems seek to deliver a singular and unified booking experience to ship cross-border for any customer segments (Sellers, Shippers, Consolidators, Freight Forwarders) regardless if the destination is FBA inbound to a Fulfillment Center, Ship to Storage location, or 3P destination including MFN (direct to consumer). Team operates as a startup within Amazon, working with tech and business pioneers across the sites world-wide and providing great path breaking product and technology direction.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in full-stack mobile development- android /iOS or modern web browsers and services mainly in Java in a Linux or Unix environment
- Experience designing and building large-scale systems in a multi-tiered, distributed environment (Service Oriented Architecture)
