Software Development Engineer, Inventory

Job ID: 2585575 | Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc.

DESCRIPTION

We’re on the lookout for the curious, those who think big and want to define the world of tomorrow. Someone who is passionate about big data and scaling problems. Team is currently investing to take the existing product to next level by 2028, if interested then lets chat more.

As a Software Development Engineer on the team, you are passionate about working on cutting edge technologies, bring deep technical knowledge, experience with distributed systems to drive technical design and implement end-end solutions. You will have great communication skills, project management skills, and hire, build, and develop your team. You are a true owner - you are deeply interested in product design and you innovate on behalf of our customers.

Work/Life Balance:
The Systems Manager team values work-life balance. We value different lifestyles that people have – e.g. daycare pickups, helping a partner who works weekends, caring for aging parents, going to the gym once a day - and we want to provide an inclusive environment for everyone. Our entire team follows the company RTO policy and is located in Seattle. The core in-office hours are from 10am to 4pm. We are builder-operators of our services at AWS and have an on-call rotation where you’ll participate once every 10-12 weeks. We work to reduce our on-call load by ensuring that our systems are fault tolerant, and resolve the root cause of an issue so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.

Inclusive and Diverse Culture:
Here at AWS, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. We have innovative benefit offerings, and we host annual and ongoing learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences. Amazon’s culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 14 Leadership Principles, which remind team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn and be curious, and earn trust.

Mentorship & Career Growth:
We’re committed to the growth and development of every member of the team. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the culture and direction of the entire SSM org and deliver initiatives that will improve the work life of all of our teams. This is a growth environment - we’re hiring and scaling rapidly to meet the needs of our customers. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your scope of influence naturally as we scale and will have to hire & develop other leaders along the way.

Key job responsibilities

• Instill best practices for software development and documentation, making sure designs meet requirements, and delivering high quality software

A day in the life
We are individuals who are passionate about creating new products, features, and services from scratch while managing ambiguity and the pace of a company where development cycles are measured in weeks, not years.

About the team
You will work across customers, partners and internal service teams in learning from their usage of product, define the features and product roadmap and take Build-Measure-Learn approaches, to rapidly evolve Inventory to next level.
