The team is responsible for the network security decisions to ensure availability, speed to market, and control cost. We build systems that detect, assess, and mitigate security risk across the global infrastructure and are accountable for keeping the Amazon Infrastructure secure.

We are looking for Network Security Engineers to provide technical thought leadership in the development of our next-generation networks. You are comfortable with taking risks, and iterating on designs that may fail at the outset to ultimately deliver robust systems that elegantly scale. In the Network Security Engineer role, you will ensure that the fulfillment and transportation infrastructure is securely designed and implemented with high standards to maintain customer trust. If you enjoy analyzing networks, system and services from a security perspective, and you are skilled at solving security challenges, this position will provide you with a challenging and rewarding opportunity. You will participate in the design, build, deployment and operation of security-focused infrastructure and provide consultation, architectural review, risk assessment of Amazon’s systems and networks that support our vast Fulfillment Network spanning the globe. In this role you will also operate the security posture of largest fulfillment network in the world, and provide guidance to and mentoring to network support teams to develop their skills and reinforce security best practices. Network reliability and security are critical to Amazon Operations, and your responsibilities will include driving root cause resolution of network events most impactful to the business.


Key job responsibilities
- Own Network Security Decisions for solutions including robotics, automation, and embedded devices.
- Drive security into tools used by Amazonian's every day through solid understanding of authentication protocols, core network and system security principles along with up-to-date understanding of modern attack patterns and methods
- Assist in implementing and maintaining security measures to safeguard systems and infrastructure
- Perform Network security design reviews and risk assessments
- Develop and maintain security risk register and partner with risk owners to ensure security risks are remediated
- Simplify ACLs required to clear the Network backlog for new and existing solutions
- Collect, Analyze, and Summarize data from a variety of sources to create compelling written and verbal communications.

A day in the life
A Security Engineer should foster constructive dialogue and seek resolution when confronted with discordant views. You will collaborate with business leaders to define security priorities. You will support product leaders by acting as a trusted advisor and by providing them with the direction that makes security easy. You will guide teams towards solutions that are secure by default. If secure-by-default solutions don’t exist, you will invent & propose them.

About the team
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across Operations Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Customer Logistics Security to help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years of any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security experience
- Experience implementing security solutions at the business division level or equivalent
- Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP
- Experience providing risk assessments of vulnerabilities and evaluating mitigating controls in large, complex networks.
- Prior experience influencing internal stakeholders across organizational boundaries

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, cyber security, electrical engineering, systems engineering, or equivalent
- Experience with hardware security, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, and application security
- Familiarity with penetration testing and the development of exploits
- Experience in developing security tooling and automation applying technologies such as symbolic execution, code analysis, and fuzzing
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++
- CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional) or CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) or CFR (CyberSec First Responder) or Cloud+ or CySA+ (CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst) or GCED (GIAC Certified Enterprise Defender) or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or PenTest+
- Knowledge of industrial ethernet protocols ( CIP, PROFINET, EtherCAT ) and related technologies used in material handling equipment and fulfillment automation.
- Linux systems engineering skills and a solid grasp on operating system fundamentals

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
