Software Dev Engineer II, Selection Monitoring - Selection Addition
DESCRIPTION
Amazon's Selection Monitoring team strives to maintain comprehensive awareness of all products worldwide. We aggregate and identify products with complete and accurate information. Our goal is to enrich and expand Amazon's product selection based on consumer interests. We are building the most comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date universal product database. We have open positions for Software Engineers who are passionate about tackling big data challenges. We seek engineers to design and build solutions that enable various data science and analytics capabilities, including data mapping using machine learning and LLM integrations, understanding relationships between products and their variants, improving data quality, natural language processing, and discovering new relationships and gaps.
Our engineers are expected to take ownership, dive deep, and drive solutions from prototype development through design, coding, testing, and deployment. The role requires innovation and pushes boundaries. Our solutions provide guidance on identifying and addressing product listing gaps and understanding semantic relationships between products globally. Our engineers also collaborate with teams across Amazon to create value for our customers.
Key job responsibilities
Key job responsibilities include product-ionizing gen-AI integrations with end to end ownership, Designing and maintaining solutions which are cost effective for various needs, offering scale and low-latency on demand and client friendly dataset vending to various stakeholders.
A day in the life
The software engineer will collaborate with fellow engineers and stakeholders to deliver on technical capabilities that close selection gaps and present them to customers(sellers, vendors, shoppers) for organic adoption. The engineer will also be responsible for on-call duties on launched capabilities and offering operational excellence which creates space to think bigger. There will be ceremonies such as design reviews, sprint planning and standups that the engineer would participate
About the team
Selection Addition team owns capabilities that performs 1) Data transformation/mapping to Amazon's catalog schema; Owns workflows to perform these at scale 2) Contribute and stage datasets for consumption to user experience teams
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
